Don’t hesitate to give us a call. Our emergency dentist will do everything possible to improve your situation.
When Do I Need Emergency Dental Care?
As a general rule, any treatment that is needed to stop persistent bleeding, save a tooth, or relieve a severe toothache is considered emergency dental treatment.
Emergency dental care might be necessary if you:
- Broke a tooth.
- Knocked out or dislodged a tooth.
- Have a dental abscess or tooth infection
- Discovered a crack or chip in your tooth.
- Cut your gums, tongue, or cheek.
- Feel unnatural looseness in your teeth.
- Experience sudden or severe toothaches or tooth pain
If you are in doubt as to whether or not a situation is an emergency, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask our emergency dentist. Even if you think you can tough out a toothache, take the time to contact our office. We want to restore your health before more serious problems develop.
Ignoring a serious dental problem is much worse than the minor inconvenience of looking up your dentist’s number in your phone!
Same-Day and After-Hours Emergency Care
At The Fort Union Dentist, we go above and beyond to ensure your dental emergencies are taken care of. In most cases, we can offer same-day appointments to help relieve your pain and restore your oral health.
We also provide a way to contact us after hours for urgent cases. Depending on the situation, we may even be able to assist non-patients-of-record outside of our regular hours. Your dental health and peace of mind are our top priorities, no matter the time or day!
What Should I Do in the Meantime?
Depending on your emergency, there are different methods you can use to help ease your symptoms.
It is a good idea to apply cold compresses to the outside of your mouth to help control swelling.
If you have cracked a tooth or cut the inside of your mouth, gently rinse with clean water.
If you have lost a tooth entirely, carefully place it back in the empty socket; if that is too painful, hold it in between your cheek and gums or in a cup of milk. Be careful not to touch the roots of the tooth.
If you have broken a tooth, carefully gather the pieces and store them in a cup of milk until you can come into the office.
